Scarce 18th Century
Pantry Box
New England. Original dry paint on large round box of ash side walls; soft-wood top and bottom. The paint presents as gray to sage-green depending upon lighting.
A substantial box featuring thick side walls, joinery of the finger and sidewalls by coveted rose-head nails, and a 12 inch diameter x 5 tall. So well made that the structural condition remains superb, still tight and straight without damage. Complex surface with wear and stains.
Provenance includes Hollis Broderick, Portsmouth, NH. A very good box.
