New England, ca. 1820-1840. Original dry paint on pine and boxwood. Chamfered edges to lid; base extends out on front and sides as a “molding” Superb original condition including spring-wire hinges and latch. Joinery by cut nails. Just 6 ¼ inches wide x 4 deep x 4 tall. Provenance: private New England collection; Courcier and Wilkins.  Tight.  Clean.  Crisp.
