Attributed to J.A. (Jane Anthony) Davis (1821-1855), ca. 1840. Watercolor on paper.

Typical of portraits by JA Davis, he is shown in-half length, full face, slightly turned, in black clothing, and with white gauche facial highlights. Excellent condition with typical paper toning which accentuates the facial highlights.

Period and likely original frame, frame size about 6 5/8 inches x 5 ½.
