Large 4-Finger
Shaker Oval Box
in Mustard-Yellow Paint

Northeast, ca. mid 19th century.
Likely New Lebanon.

Pine top and bottom, maple side wall. The fingers crisply and beautifully cut, joinery by copper tacks. One end shows the remnants of an old label that likely named the contents. Structurally exceptional condition. Minor wear to painted surface, top patinated more darkly than side due to airborne sediments landing on the horizonal. Pristine interior. Lid still fits perfectly.

About 11 7/8 inches wide x 8 ¼ deep x 5 1/8 tall. From a long time private Maine collection.
