Probably Northeast, ca. 1840-1860. Unusually vivid paint decoration of a floral composition, similar to the best paint decorated tinware objects, with reds, yellows, greens and mustard against a black ground.
All original with charming alligatored surface.
Excellent condition. About 13 ½ inches long x 7 7/8 wide x 5 ½ tall. From a private Massachusetts collection..
